Follow Me
Follow Me is a cousin of Exercise #9 and based on some of the more standard scale practices. You basically pick a length and an initial pattern, and increment it by dropping a note off the beginning and adding a note to the end.
So:
E| ----------------|| ----------------|| ----------------|| ---------------|| B| ----------------|| ----------------|| ----------------|| ---------------|| G| ----------------|| ----------------|| ----------------|| ---------------|| D| ----------------|| ----------------|| ----------------|| ---------------|| A| ---7----7-------|| 7----7----------|| ---7------------|| 7--------------|| D| 11---11---9-7---|| --11---9-7------|| 11---9-7--------|| --9-7----------|| G| --------------9-|| -----------9-11-|| ---------9-11-9-|| ------9-11-9-6-||
etc.
Pick Me, I'm Clean
is an alternate picking excercise. Basically just a length, a string, and devations from it...
E| ----------------------| B| --------4-------------| G| ----------------------| D| ------3-----------3---| A| ----------------------| D| 5-5-5-----5-5-5-5---5-|
or something like this, which uses the last string played as a starting point:
E| ----------------------| B| ----3-----------------| G| --3-------------------| D| ------5-5-5-5-5-5-5-5-| A| 5---------------------| D| ----------------------|
I'm Open
an open-string excersize. Still working on this one; bear with me
E| 2-0-4-2-0-5-----------16-0-16-14-12-P-0-| B| ------------0-12-9-15-------------------| G| ----------------------------------------| D| ----------------------------------------| A| ----------------------------------------| D| ----------------------------------------|
I don't know where the fuck that thing's going. I'll write about it again when I get it dialed in more.
Oh, and here's this stupid riff I came up with last night; sixteenth notes:
E| -------------------------------------------------------------------| B| -------------------------------------------------------------------| G| -------------------------------------------------------------------| D| -------------------------------------------------------------------| A| --------------------7--B--9--B--7---------------------5------------| D| ----------0-H-5-H-9-------------------------0-H-5-H-9-----7--------| G| 0-H-3-H-7-------------------------0-H-3-H-7-------------------9----|
The "H"s are hammer-ons, the "B"s are bends. I'm going to play around with my new preamp today, so maybe I'll record I snippet for the benefit of the no-one who cares...
